Moondragon Chronicle

"I pledge my honor to this clan!"

Welcome to the library.

So you'd like to hear the history of this great clan, would you? It is quite a long and twisted tale, so sit and make yourself comfortable and let me take you into the mists of the past...

The Lovers' Blade...
The winds whisper through the vale and sings in the tree tops. A harvest moon in her full glory casts her slivery beams down upon a shadow in the night. Illumated by her fair glowing face the shadow comes upon two bodies, one a man and not just any man, a Knight. More astounding than that the shadow finds this Knight laying in the arms of a fallen elf Maiden. So beautiful is she, even in death, for she has fallen as well, taken by her lovers side. Or so would any travler who happned upon them suppose. To the keen eyes of this shadow in the night however, the truth is seen. No this was no murder, it was suicide! Both lovers grasp the blood covered blade at the hilt with fingers linked. What led this pair to such a moribd fate is unknown, for it is a story that they, and they alone take with them beyond the veil.

For a brief moment the shadow stands in a pause, feeling a twinge of sorrow for such beauty, love taken from this earth. He turns to leave the lovers in their death bed but freezes when something shines out of the darkness. It is then that he notices the beauty of this sword. Through the blood he can see a strange emblem on the very top of the hilt, a dragon biting it's tail... the shape of a ring around a cool blue gem. There are runes running down the blade yet from his distance he cannot read them.

He must have this sword, words cannot tell how badly he wants it. More than simple greed draws him closer to the pair and the sword. This feeling grows, the blade seems to whisper to him now, calling him ever closer, he cannot deny it. Closer he comes and closer until he stands in the lovers' blood. His hand reaches for the sword, and then grasps the hilt over the lovers' hands for a moment. He gasps slightly, "Their hands...still warm..." Then swallowing hard continues his quest for the lovers' blade.

Once more he grasps the man's and the elf's hands, this time taking them off the blade. Leaving them linked, he lays them down upon the Knights chest. The shadow grasps the blade by the hilt and stands. Lifting the blade before him he sees its beauty even through the blood. Then he realizes he too, like the sword is covered in the lovers' blood. Not wanting it to dry on his fur, he begins to head towards a near by stream, leaving the lovers glttering crimson in the mournful dancing moonlight.

An Elven Gift...

Now washed the shadow and his blade both glitter in the moonlight. The sword by the cool blue gem upon its hilt and the shadow by his cool blue eyes. "Tell me your name." He pleads as he turns the blade over attempting to read the runes. Finding he cannot he sighs and fears he may never unlock the true name of The Lovers' Blade, as he has deemed it. "EOWYN!" He has suddenly remembered an old friend, a dragoness. Knowlegable of thousands of languages since she has been around through the birth and death of nearly all languages of the human tonuge.

He finds her slumbering just out side her cave. She's huge and fiercely beautiful, yet he doesn't seem to care that she could easily swallow him whole as he runs up to her shouting. "Eowyn! Look..." He pants a bit out of breath from his run to get her. "...I found..." The beautiful dragoness opens her eyes and looks at him waving his find back and forth.

"A sword." She says matter-of-factly. "You better put that down before you poke your eye out" She grins widely showing her huge and very sharp teeth.

He glares at her and is not even a bit unnerved by her toothy grin. He suddenly remembers the runes and becomes again full of excitement. "Can you read these? D...do you know what they say?" She studies it a bit and asks him to turn it over a few times.

"It says "Nightshade Blade of Willow, Knight of The Lakeclan" She studies him a bit, he is not the excible type, there must be something special about this blade.

"So that was the poor bloke's name, pity." He thinks aloud.

"Who's name? Lunis Neko, is there somthing you haven't told me? Where did you get this from?" She asks, her inerest growing. It is then that Lunis tells her the tale of The Lovers' Blade or rather Nightshade Blade, as it were.

After hearing the story Eowyn's eyes scan the blade anew. This time she studies it very carefully taking in every detail. Scanning over the hilt, something different catches her eye. Lying right beneath the circle dragon is a ring... Her eyes widen more as she realizes it is a ring of the fair folk. Wonderment fills her as she has heard tales of magic in such things. She touches it gently with a claw but being a dragon does not provide much dexterity in such manners. The ring grows before her eyes and slips over the dragon circle and off the hilt of the sword. She finds it on the ground and slips it on the tip of her claw so she can bring it close and study it again. Once more it grows but this time it slips around her claw. Suddenly she glows with a bluish white light for a brief moment then is transformed. Now she is more human in shape and size, still dragon but smaller and upright. She has beautiful dark hair now that falls in ripples down her back and she still has a powerfull although much smaller tail.

She looks down at her self and then she looks over at Lunis. "Wow this is, amazing!" She says grinning. Then she runs over to Lunis and hugs him... her first real hug.

Lunis sees her diffrently now. Before she was beautiful indeed but she was an untouchable beauty. He could never see himself with her but now... astounding! He is now calm and replys grining, "Truly."

So it begins...

Lunis realizes that Eowyn has fast ungrown her home and so he grins and decides to invite her to live with him just out side a human village near a huge manor. She agrees and they travel to his rather small home where they live for some time rather happily and undisturbed.

Suddenly the humans begin the hunt for... dragons. Knights they call themselves, each seeking glory and riches that can only be gained through slaughter. These Kinghts are murdering any dragons they can find. Most dragons who have fallen had been suprised or betrayed by humans who had co-existed peacfully along side them. One group of Knights after they finding that Eowyn's cave is empty are returning home... but they stumble upon Lunis and Eowyn's home along the way. They find Eowyn sunbathing in her true dragon form. She is many, many times their size and can breath fire but still they tread on attempting to sneak up on her. She hears a cough and jolts up. They attack, screaming some idioitc battle cry. Lunis hears Eowyn scream and rushes back, quickly jumping into the fray. In the end every one of the Knights lie dead and during the battle one had set their home ablaze. By the end of the battle the home was too far gone and unable to save. Knowing full well that more Knights will proabably come to look for these, and now having no where to live they flea their now burning home to a safe haven, the hattchery where she and many other dragons were born.

They reach the once warm and homey hattchery and find a devistating site, all of the eggs are smashed and the dragon gaurdians are slain and toothless. Those Knights took the teeth as proof of their conquest and left the rest of the bodies to rot. Enraged, she roars loudly. A castle lies near, a safe haven to the Kinghts who destroyed this one. But not for long...

Eowyn takes off in flight dragon rage burning in her angry eyes. She roars loudly as she circles the castle three times, each time she gets increasingly louder. After her third circile she shoots striaght up into the sky directly above the castle. She watches the people scream and flea to their homes... no place is safe in this once safe of haven. She howls once more before turning and darting down at the Knights upon the roof of the castle. She lands among them her claws gripping into the cold stone. Tiny arrows and meager blades do nothing to pierce her armored hide. Swinging her tail to and fro she clears the roof of the small annoyances and roars again once more, her roar reverberating deafiningly off of the mountains making it sound as if it had come from an entire clan rather than just one dragon.

Then she spots the king hiding in the corner and grinning turns and brings her head even with his. "It's a pity all of your dragon hunters are out questing...isn't it?" She mocks with a big toothy grin.  The king only gasps and shakes. She stares into his empty eyes before raising her arm and rending him to pieces with one swift swipe.

Once again she takes off in flight hovering above the castle. She lets out a tundering roar and this time is answered by many others in return. All of the dragons still left in hiding near this castle have rallied after hearing Eowyn's anguished cries and come to her aid.

Out of the dark forests and grey mountains come many dragons in full rage. By now news of the hatchery's slaughter had reached all of them. They strike with vengance killing all in their path. Just as the innocent weren't spared at the hatchery no human is spared in the town or castle. All buildings too small for dragon entry are smashed and the towns streets are covered in thick crimson blood. When the sreams stop the dragon's gather the bodies upon the cliff. After all of the humans remains are all there the dragons push them off the edge into the roaring river below. Once the river runs crimson all of the dragons bellow a defening victory cry that shakes the entire valley.

Thunder strikes as if to answer their call and then the rain beingns to fall, washing away the blood of the humans from their safe haven.

At some point Lunis had joined the battle. Though being a cattish-human creature and not in the least bit reptilian in nature he fought for the innocence lost... he fought to revenge his dear Eowyn's kind. The battle over he seeks her through the large gathering of dragons. Many had seen him fight with them and though he has a somwhat humanish appearance, they respected him for his valiant efforts.

Finding her sitting upont the top of the castle above the rest of the dragons save one to which she was talking he waits as he gazes up at her. She spots him and has another dragon give him a lift up and there both Lunis and her speak candidly for a few moments. It is then that they turn towards the rest of the dragons.

Silence falls over the crowd and each reptilian eye watches intently. "A great injustice has been avenged today." Eowyn begins to nods and murmurs of approval. "However, this is but a small victory in a terrible war. These people are only a fraction of the many which seek to end the existance of our kind!" The crowd murmers a bit more excitedly. "We cannot win this hateful war devided! We must unite! Look now..." Eown points to the now risen moon which lights the gathering. "...we have fought through the day and now hold council under the silver diamond. By the light of the moon I say UNITE! Then we will be undefeatable!" The crowd erupts in roars of agreement. It is at this point that Lunis steps forward and speaks as loudly and evenly as he can.

"Dear dragons!" The roars lower then cease. "We shall form a mighty clan! Powerful, majestic, strong! We form our clan by the light of the moon therefore we shall be from now know as the Moondragon Clan!" The dragons look back and forth to eachother and low murmers of discussion whsiper through the crowd. Then in on booming roar in unision the announce their agreement. Lunis holds up the Nightshade blade and as it glitters in the moonlight he speaks again. "With this blade I pledge my honor to this clan!" The dragons seem mesmurized by the wonderous beauty of the blade for a brief moment then they roar exictedly.

Eowyn steps forward once more. "I pledge my honor to this clan!" She then touches her snout the the flat edge of the blade. Then she speaks once more "All those who will pledge their lives and honor to this Moondragon clan come forward and take your oath."

One by one each of the dragons come forward and pledge themselves to the clan. Each touching the flat edge of the blade with their snout as Eowyn did before walking away. Then finally the dragon comes and goes. Eowyn stands once more and bellows loudly.

"HONOR IS OUR BATTLE CRY! VENGENCE IS OUR FAITH!"

The rest of the clan repeats in unision."Honor is our battle cry! Vengence is our faith!"

It was in that moment that the powerful Moondragon Clan was formed. They claimed the castle as their own and rebuilt the town to fit dragons and smaller folk as well. The castle too was modified to accomadate the dragons of the clan and was then named Neko manor after the home lost to Lunis and Eowyn.

From a sordid lot of terrible events they rose. From the ashes of slalughter and bloodshed the reign. Only time will tell the outcome of this terrible war.
